A guide to happy life according to The Office main character Dwight Schrute. Let’s take a closer look to the king of The Office Cringe.

U.S. Office is one of the most hilarious TV shows I have ever watched. Over-the-top personalities and cringe-worthy actions are the basis of each episode. As I find all the personas somehow charming, Dwight Schrute gets most of my attention. Even with sooooo many negative sides, he makes an incredibly strong personality with some qualities.

Work Hard

Dwight, always the NR.1 salesman of Dunder Mifflin paper company, gives 100% to everything work-related. Sometimes he crosses the line, but it’s only for work purposes. He is never late, does not take a vacation, and takes his job very seriously. This skill can be definitely useful, as procrastinating is becoming the new trend.

Be Loyal

Dwight’s boss Michael Scott could be identified as the king of the cringe, due to his spontaneous and offensive actions, but Dwight always stands by his back. In some situations, their opinions did not match, but Dwight as a loyal employee always supports him. Being loyal to your company and its goals is one of the most important parts of a productive business. Even if it’s sometimes a little bit too much…

Remember Your Family’s Heritage

Besides working full-time in Dunder Mifflin, Dwight also owns The Schrute farm where he and his special cousin Mose grow beets and farm animals. Overloaded with work from 1st job, he still does not let go of his family land and, still, expands it to an agrotourism attraction where you can learn to make tables, taste beet wine, and make mattresses. Also, occasionally, Dwight mentions facts about his family members and demonstrates that he lives by their values:

“Rule 17: do not turn your back on bears, a man you have wronged, or the dominant turkey during mating season. Schrute boys must learn 40 rules before the age of five.”

Invest

Schrute is business-thinking, for sure. In few episodes, he instructs how to earn money from simple tricks. For example, reserving all the tables 6 months before Valentine’s Day and waiting till frustrated men pay to make their girlfriends happy; buying all the trending toys before Christmas, to sell them twice expensive, because he knows how much parents want to please their children. Dwight has many ways to profit from simple, but not always ethical strategies.

Be Factual

FACTS. FACTS. FACTS.

Critical thinking skills are a very important quality in all parts of life. As the information is flowing from all kinds of sources, it’s good to have some critical thinking involved and don’t let our emotions overcome the judgments. D. Schrute is 100% factual and looks at situations from the rational side at all times.

Prepare For Anything

He is highly experienced in martial arts, emergency situations, and legalities. Although some are completely unnecessary, Dwight is the first one to react. The 2 most absurd and cringe moments in The Office are related to emergency situations training:

Anyway, it is always good to be prepared, because we live in an unpredictable period, where a lot of horrible things are happening.

Be Self-Confident

Self-confidence is often seen as arrogance but is the major key to survival and happy life. Even if your actions would be considered cringe, you should believe in yourself and follow your dreams. You should know your worth, strengths, and qualities to reach the greater good. A lot of life-coaches name self-confidence as one of the most important skills for accomplishing high positions. Know how to sell yourself!!

It’s hard to keep strong and happy in such a competitive environment, but the qualities mentioned above can be useful for future careers and personal life. Just don’t forget Dwight’s most important rule:

“Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, “Would an idiot do that?” And if they would, I do not do that thing.” – D.Schrute
